Charles Eames is the undisputed star of the American furniture design. Together with his wife and collabortor, Ran Kaiser Eames, they created some of the most iconic and timeless pieces of the Mid-Century Modern Movement, including the design of this Modern Lounger Chair and Ottoman.
We manufacture our Modern Lounge chair and ottoman very close to the original design, by re-creating the wood mold for the 7 ply-chair frame and ottoman frame and another mold for the aluminum bases. Our lounger chair is offered with a choice of three wood species and finishes: walnut with medium stain, walnut with Rosewood stain; or, Ebony wood with a natural stain. The chair has a 5 spoke base and the ottoman has a 4 spoke base, both of which swivel 360 degrees. Our bases are cast aluminum made to match the "original" design, polished on top and flat black lacquer paint on the bottom half. There are adjustable glides on the bottom of the bases and the chair sits at a stationary angle or pitch and does not recline further.
For the upholstery, we only use fine Italian, top grain, 100% aniline-dyed leather on all surfaces. Each piece is cut and hand-sewn with attentive detail. Our seat and back cushions use HR (High Resilient), Multi-Density Foam, Dacron wrapped for superb seat comfort, durability and long-lasting support. The upholstery seams/welt lines are straight and the premium foam cushions sit flush in frame. Seams are in all the right places.

Leather thickness is generally 1.0 - 1.2 mm depending on application of seating component for stretching and tailoring the upholstery design and condition. Below are the swatches of the Premium leather colors we offer. There is 12% up-charge for all Premium Leathers. All our leathers are imported from Italy and are of Grade A quality. Our Premium leathers are full-grain, 100% aniline-dyed. Our Premium grade leathers have a soft feel to them and much of the hides natural grain patterns are retained. They are also a little more shiny than the Standard Leather. Premium leather thickness is generally the same the standard leather: 1.0 - 1.2 mm depending on application of seating component for stretching and tailoring the upholstery design and condition.
