This is a high quality footstool inspired by the popular Mies van der Rohe Barcelona Footstool introduced and made famous during the 1929 Universal Exhibition in Barcelona, Spain.
Our Exhibition Footstool was inspired by the Mies van der Rohe footstool known the world over as the "Barcelona Stool." Shown here with Cafe au Lait leather, our frame is constructed from premium grade solid bar stock stainless steel. All joints are fully welded, sealed, and seamless. The frame is hand-polished to a mirror-like finish. The geometry of the frame is accurate to the Mies van der Rohe original design. Four belts with buckle attach the cushion to the frame.
The cushion surfaces consist of 16 individual top-grain leather panels; each piece is cut and hand-sewn using a handrolling welting technique not found in other versions on the market. The seat cushions is filled with high resilient - high density polyurethane foam that is CAL117 flame test rated. The cushion is supported by leather straps riveted to the frame and whose top and side edges match upholstery color. The cushion corners have no exposed seams. Compared to other similar ottomans on the market, ours is much more comfortable.
