In 1968, Sigurd Ressell became the chief designer for Norwegian furniture company Vatne, and his seminal Falcon Chair (1970) soon followed. Originally, the hammock-like chair was produced with a chrome frame, but was redesigned with a lighter laminated base in 1974 for easier distribution. This is a wonderful addition to any art deco home, or the modern contemporary home.

Our Falcon Ottoman was inspired by the original steel frame version with some important distinctions. First, we use 12mm #304 Stainless Steel flat bar that has been polished to a mirror-like like finish. We use heavy canvas for the hammock effect. Italian Leather and a combination of foam and feathers in cushion. We also make a wood version of this ottoman, see product number MC-7714 for this item.

Our Smooth leathers are top-grain, aniline-dyed, have a soft feel to them and retains the hides natural grain patterns. Our Distressed Leathers (denoted with the prefix L5) are also top-grain, aniline-dyed but have a distressed look to them. L5 leathers will show rubbings and have a more waxy feel. Each of the these groupings feature:
  • Top-grain Italian leather from Grade A hides
  • Semi aniline-dyed
  • Made at Italian tanneries and sent to our factory
  • Have a UV and Moisture Guard built into the non-toxic vegetable dyes
  • Are not split hides or bonded leather
